An Italian Gilt framed Empire chandelier. An unusual empire chandelier from the Florentine area of Italy. The top section has a coronet of gilt leaves each holding an icicle drop, protruding from a decorative gilt band studded with rosettes from which hang vertical chains of octagonal button chains leading into a similar gilt band studded with rosettes. The top bag is constructed from octagonal button chains falling into a double gilded central band again studded with rosettes, gilt leaves and a row of icicle drops hang. 8 simple gilt arms issue from the central band each holding a cut glass bobeche drip pan from which dangle icicle drops. The bottom ‘bag’ of the chandelier is a lovely bowl shape and gathers into a simple gilt band from which hang icicle drops to finish off this chandelier. c1950’s.
Height 90cm x Width 70cm, this is the height of the chandelier only without the chain and ceiling rose which comes with the chandeliers and can be adjusted to individual requirements.
